INTRODUCING PN1

12.12.2019

If you've checked our website or social media in the past months, you will have seen our Open Call for PN1, which is now officially completed.

But what exactly is PN1?

PN1 is the latest edition of our residency and exhibition program, beginning in early 2020. It's also the first major design collaboration between the Nordic region and Argentina in this century.

Unbeknownst to many Nordic-Argentine design collaboration has a long, forgotten history: from the 1920s to 1970s, Swedish design house Nordiska Kompaniet had a store in Buenos Aires — a move that provided mutual inspiration for Nordic and Argentine designers. PN1 wishes to revive the Nordic-Argentine design connection and build on the contacts and experiences we gained in our first year of PAVILION NORDICO.

The initial idea for the project was sparked when designer Bettina Nelson's, during her stay at PAVILION NORDICO in Buenos Aires in early 2019, collaborated with local Argentine crafts and design studios on the development of the PN1 chair.

In early 2020, PN1 will bring five up-and-coming Nordic designers to Argentina, where they will collaborate with local Argentine craftspeople and design studios to develop unique design objects. The five resulting design objects will be premiered at an exhibition at Quick Tiny Shows in Buenos Aires, curated by design curator Juan Garcia Mosqueda, in late March 2020. Afterwards, the PN1 team and the exhibition will go on a year-loung tour of design events and spaces in the Nordic countries.

We hope that you'll follow us on this exciting journey, and check back in for our official announcement of the selected designers in early January 2020.
