ONE YEAR OF PAVILION NORDICO

25.10.2019

One year ago today, PAVILION NORDICO was officially launched to the public. On the occasion of our first anniversary, our team is celebrating the amazing successes the project has achieved in just one year, as well as the connections we have made and the lessons we have learned.

Here's a look back at the highlights of our first year:

70 COLLABORATORS FROM 12 NATIONS
During the first year of PAVILION NORDICO, we collaborated with 23 Nordic and 47 international creators of visual art, design, performance, media, press, and more. We were able to host 12 residents from Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Germany in our villa in Buenos Aires. The residents also helped shape the public program in Buenos Aires, bringing in local and international collaborators from Argentina, Greenland, Iceland, Norway anf Finland.

15 EVENTS WITH MORE THAN 1000 VISITORS
Starting with the official opening event on PAVILION NORDICO hosted 15 events as part of its public program in both Europe and the Nordic region. The events included exhibitions, performances, talks and workshops and drew over 1000+ visitors in total.

ONE-DAY ROOFTOP EXHIBITION
Our residents Hrefna Leifsdottir, Keti Ortoidze, Sarah Rosengarten and Annie Akerman worked together with over ten other artists from Argentina and Uruguay to create a beautiful performance-exhibition on the rooftop of the residency. The exhibition was featured in the Argentine newspaper Clarin N.

HYPER HYPER DURING ARTEBA
The opening performances of Cycle Music and Art festival’s exhibition “Reacción a Islandia” at PAVILION NORDICO, including Danish performer Adam Christensen and Icelandic-German artist duo HYPER HYPER turned into the most talked-about afterparty of arteBA.

THE PN1 CHAIR
Our April 2019 resident, Swedish designer Bettina Nelson, designed and developed a chair for PAVILION NORDICO during her stay — using the local material mimbre and working with Buenos Aires design studio RIES Estudio and Sur Del Cruz. The fusion of Nordic and Argentine design will be a big focus in our next stage of the project.

OUR TALK AT THE REYKJAVIK ART MUSEUM
In August 2019, co-founder Sara Løve Daðadóttir, project partner Birta Guðjónsdóttir and Copenhagen-based Kiosk Studio presented the PAVILION NORDICO project, its roots, objectives and future plans during a talk at the Reykjavik Art Museum in Iceland.

LAUNCH OF GRUPPE MAGAZINE WITH PAVILION NORDICO FEATURE
In September 2019, Berlin-based magazine and PAVILION NORDICO media residents Gruppe launched their very first print magazine, featuring the editorial they produced with Argentinian photgrapher Dagurke during their stay at PAVILION NORDICO.

We are more than happy with the amazing outcomes of the first year of PAVILION NORDICO, and were overwhelmed with all the support and positive feedback the project received.

None of it would have impossible without the passion, dedication and talent of our team, partners and collaborators such as Kiosk Studio Copenhagen, Cycle Music & Art Festival, Ries Estudio, Sur del Cruz, the Art Museum Reykjavik, Birta Gudjunsdottir, Gruppe, Dagurke, Javier Agustin Rojas, Bettina Nelson and many, many more.

We want to say thank you again to anyone who worked and supported us. We are looking forward to many more exciting years of PAVILION NORDICO!
